Summer is settling in

Well...Marie has come and gone. It was so good to see her, the last time was in Alaska last summer. She got to experience a slice of our real life, although we were in transition from school to summer.

Jessica started her summer school class today. She goes 8-2 Mon-Fri, until June 29th (I know, a Monday, weird). The class is Rhetoric Skills, tied to next school year's AP English 11 class. When the class is over she has one week before leaving to be a CIT at Girl Scout camp. That tour of duty, which I had to pay for, is approx. 5 weeks long. We'll miss her, but it will be so quiet here :)

Andrew's wrestling club did not practice last week, but they are back at it today. He rides his bike to the school three days a week. This weekend he has a camping trip with his Boy Scout troop and will be inducted into the Order of the Arrow. Tonight is a regular meeting. I'm driving him and will walk with a friend while he's at the meeting. Boy Scout camp for him is the week of June 28th through July 4th. He goes back to camp to be a CIT from July 19-Aug 2. He is starting to think about his Eagle Project. Ideally, he will complete the project before he is sixteen (he is fourteen now), because he would like a job, but our requirement is that he finish Eagle first.

My Biology class started on Monday. I attend Mon-Thur, two of the days from 9-10:30, the other two days from 9-2:00. It is intensive, but the class is only eight weeks long. The other class I'm taking is a writing/research class. It is nice to work the school schedule and not have to "work" in the summer. Of course, now I'm working in the home which is just as hard as working outside the home. We don't go back until August 17th. A week earlier, but next year we are out the Wednesday before Memorial Day.

Joe hasn't heard much about the strike. Contracts around the country are starting to expire. He was just given his strike assignment if the southern states strike. Orlando. I know, too bad he would be working.

We are meeting friends on Friday night for comedy night. It is an adult only venue the local parks and recreation district offers 3x a year. They bring comics from tv shows (best damned sports show and others) to local parks. It's only $10 to get in and is a lot of fun. Of course the weather has been chilly so hopefully we don't freeze. Marie didn't even bother bringing a bathing suit. At least we're saving on our A/C bills this month.

Julie, love your background. SO much for summer being a time of rest and relaxation, huh!!. If Joe goes to Orlando, you should take a break and go see him. It sounds like you're gonna need it after all that summer school stuff. We'll have to have you back here, soon. We should be all done in about 3 weeks. Good thing cause baby's due in 5.

Awww...thank you! I enjoyed a "slice of your real life." And what's cold to you is not cold to me--I was glad to have packed flip flops and tee shirts! :)

Orlando, huh? Disney World!!

See you soon,
Marie
